DMCA Notice & Takedown
SnippetForge respects the intellectual property rights of every author whose work we index. If you believe a snippet on the catalog infringes your copyright, this page explains how to file a takedown request.
Before you file a notice
SnippetForge does not host the source code for the snippets it lists. Each detail page links out to the canonical repository or gist on a third-party platform. If your concern is with the source code itself rather than its appearance in our catalog, you should also file a notice with the hosting platform — for example, GitHub's DMCA team — to have the underlying material addressed at its source.
If your concern is specifically with the way a snippet is presented or attributed on SnippetForge — for example, an incorrect author credit, an outdated description, or an entry that should not have been indexed — please contact us first via the contact page. Most issues can be resolved within a day or two without a formal takedown.
What to include in a DMCA notice
To submit a valid notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, please include the following information in your message:
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or an authorised representative.
- Identification of the copyrighted work that you claim has been infringed.
- The exact URL on SnippetForge where the allegedly infringing material appears.
- Your contact information — name, address, telephone number, and email address.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the material is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement made under penalty of perjury that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the owner or are authorised to act on behalf of the owner.
Where to send the notice
Send your completed notice to dmca@snippetforge.dev. We aim to act on valid notices within 72 hours of receipt and will remove or disable access to the relevant entry while we investigate. Once a notice has been processed we will notify the original submitter of the snippet so they have an opportunity to respond.
Counter-notices
If you believe your snippet was removed in error, you may file a counter-notice with the same level of detail. Counter-notices should also be sent to dmca@snippetforge.dev. We will forward valid counter-notices to the original complainant and, if the matter is not resolved between the parties within ten business days, restore the snippet to the catalog.
Repeat infringers
SnippetForge will, in appropriate circumstances, decline to index further submissions from contributors who repeatedly file submissions that violate this policy. We take repeat-infringement enforcement seriously and apply it consistently across the catalog.
